「The Three Cornered World」個展のレイアウトはとてもシンプルでした。ギャラリーカメリアのフロントルームには「2020年散歩記録対記憶」インスタレーションを出展しました。 奥の部屋には、「個人焦点」3人展で制作した「2020年散歩記憶」の彫刻を空間の中央に配置しました。 ギャラリーカメリアの原田さんが、インスタレーションや私の過去作品やコロナの状況などに関連する4つの「残り思い出」のコラージュを選び、額に入れて壁に展示しました。
2021年に制作した「残り思い出」コラージュ作品を収めた2冊のスケッチブックは、小さな床の間に置いて、お客さまに見ていただきました。
在廊していると、多くの人がスケッチブックを一つ一つじっくりと見ていきます。 時には、立ったまま全部を見てくれることもありました。 時には奥の部屋の椅子に座って見てもらうこともありました。 多くの人がじっくりとコラージュを見て、感想を述べてくれたことに感動しました。
展覧会は終わってしまいましたが、私のウェブサイトには、「The Three Cornered World」で展示されていたすべてのコラージュ作品を掲載したページを作ることにしました。 実際のコラージュではありませんが、私がコラージュに込めた遊び心やプロセスを感じ取っていただければ幸いです。
The layout of "The Three Cornered World" solo exhibition was very simple. In the front room, there was the “2020 Memory Walks Memories and Recordings" installation. In the back room, the "2020 Memory Walks" sculpture that was created for the "Individual Focus" exhibition in Koenji was placed in the center of the space. On the walls of the space, four framed "Memories' Remnants" collages selected by Gallery Camellia’s Naoko Harada that connected with the installation, my previous work, and the situation with the coronavirus.
I placed the two sketchbooks which contained almost all my "Memories' Remnants" collages for 2021 in the small alcove for visitors to look through.
During my gallery sitting, many people took their time leisurely looking at each of the collages in the sketchbooks. Sometimes they would stand and look at all of them. Sometimes, I would offer them the chair in the back room to sit and look. Sometimes, they would sit in the chair by themselves and look through them. I was touched to see so many people taking their time looking at the collages and sharing their thoughts with me.
Although the exhibition is over, I decided to create a page on my website which has all the collages that were on display during The Three Cornered Exhibition. Although it is not the original collages, I hope you can get a sense of my process and the playfulness I try to put into these collages.
